late in the cretacious era hornby began as part of a river delta formed by eroding volcanic mountains on the eastern edge of an island arc. travelling north east past the lattitude of california some 70 million years ago, much of the southern coast and vancouver island eventually collided with the north american plate by about 20 million years ago. - Unsubscribed , posted 04/17/06 |
