Authentic Mexican - in the Fraser Valley!
I've moaned since I moved here five years ago about the total lack of decent Mexican food in the area. I found the Mouse & Bean in Vancouver to be really good, but I live out in the Fraser Valley and it's just too much of a drive. Mexican restaurants in Langley/Fort Langley are ok, but not great.
I've eyed this place for quite a while and finally plucked up the courage to go this weekend. I was ecstatic. I had pupusas for the first time, and they were great! I also got tacos al pastor, which were good and had plenty of cilantro. The salsa was really good, and the chips seem to be handmade. The menu has tacos, burritos, tortas, enchiladas, tostadas, sopes, fajitas, quesadillas, and some specialties. Most of the items give 9 options or so for fillings. They've got posole and aguas frescas, chilaquiles too!
Service was good, takeout was fast, the tv was in Spanish... ahhh, my new favorite restaurant. =)
(edited, -1) Well, the second visit wasn't so hot. They said the food would be done in 15 minutes. 20-some minutes later, I got there and apparently they were still waiting on the person who makes the pupusas. The burrito wasn't great, the wrapping job was sloppy, and for $8 you should get some kind of sides with it. Oh, and the flan I ordered didn't end up being in the bags when I got home. Maybe the third time will be the charm, but I'm less hopeful.
