 I was greatly entertained by this movie, as a person who likes unique movies and specifically the sci-fi genre. I also agree with Sparky about the richness of Josh's universe without explicite alien beings. While i was watching the movie i found myself wanting more of the human darknesses included into the story, perhaps as low key details (eg: more encounters with other human experiments; psyco, mech/bio fusion, drug use...more non-politically correct, not made for tv elements a la warhammer 40k) I understand that the director needed to have continuity with the universe he created in Firefly (I've never wached the tv series) but if it were re-done with exactly the same basic story, only darker details, i'm sure it would become "cult" like Evil Dead 2. - Unsubscribed , posted 01/02/06 |

This movie is probably one of the best sci-fi/action movies I've had the pleasure to see in a long time. Writer/Director Joss Whedon could really show George Lucas how to write characters, that is for damn sure. Mind you, a drunken half-blind retard hamster could probably write better characters than Lucas. -Still, Joss creates a fresh, plausible version of our future that isn't teeming with a bunch of over-wrought, ill-concieved aliens or cgi creatures. In fact, the whole world of Serenity (and the Firefly 'verse) is beautifully devoid of any aliens. Just jam-packed with all sorts of evil that men do. He also knows how not to pull punches. At all. If you've never seen the show Firefly, you will stilll have a great ride. (Just check out the show.) -And if you are a fan of the show, you'll probably flip. (Or cry.
