Worst Place EVER to study or get your hair done
Studied at Joji's and it was the biggest ripoff ever. The staff is really nice (except for the two owners) but their hands are always tied by the owners and they even become irrelevant. The two owner's have a tendancy of picking favorites and never allow you to speak your mind or make a complaint. If you do complain, Beth (one of the owners) makes your school experience torture and is out and out mean to you. I found that I had to go to another school for more education as I left without the proper training to be a professional. Many clients that came in left either in tears or just unhappy.

It is funny, the only positve response on here is from a former student who was obviously trying to get new clients.

I would recommend it to no one! - scotia , posted 07/02/09

Never again
The senior stylist I had was very poorly trained, in the Joji school no less, and the cut I got was nothing like the one I asked for. No bangs, too short and had some sort of 80's spike thing going on. The owner I spoke with was unfriendly and unaccommodating. I was shocked that they were so unprofessional, the owner came down on the stylist in front of me, yet refused to fix my cut. I went to a great woman at Suki's on Granville who did fix it and charged less. I would not recommend this salon to anyone. - Pauline , posted 02/08/09

Joji's hairdressers are rude and poorly trained
My wife went to get her hair cut at Joji's salon - NOT the school. She has very curly hair and always ensures that the stylist has experience with curly hair. The stylist ensured that she understood curly hair, but, unfortunately, she was inexperienced and poorly trained and had no understanding of curly hair. According to her business card, she is a SENIOR stylist!

My wife ended up with 2 different hairstyles; long, curly hair underneath, and then a big poofy muffin on top.

She went back to Joji's shortly thereafter and complained about the haircut. They made an appointment for a week later to fix it. For a whole week my wife had to wear a hat. To put it in a ponytail made her look ridiculous - like she was wearing a hairpiece.

When my wife arrived for the appointment, while they were washing her hair, they informed her that they were just going to trim the top (which was the problem area) and going to charge her another $55 to fix her hair.

We don't mind that the supposed "Senior Stylist" at Joji's was ill trained and inexperienced - what really makes us mad is that they wanted to charge another $55 to fix their mistakes.

Save your money - go to one of the little hairstylists or barbershops on Commercial Drive. They only charge $30 or less and they have tons of experience with all sorts of hair. - weewillie , posted 02/16/08
