i really am cuba... 32 years there!
the movie only can save its photography and thats a 5 stars work! the rest its a pathetic resemblense of what the revolution history really was. the actuation was sooooo poor ans dum some times we just laughed at the movie theater while some serious comunist more attached mind got angry.

the photography work its ecxelent as this photography director has a much better movie totally russian this time called "fly of the storks" some like that since i saw the spanish title... el vuelo de las garzas... aka el vuelo de las ciguenias".
the rest of the movie is really worst that expected, and just in case you dont know, obviously you dont have why, this movie took away like a couple of million of pesos, meaning dollars at that time to the soviet and cuban people and became a total disaster so didnt recover any money, so the poor cuban a soviet people kept suffering and well... just a cuban-soviet shot to scare some one who digs this kinda stuff... not me, i more laughed at so many fancy lies.
thanks have a good life. - sergio , posted 03/28/07

The value of 'Soy Cuba' is debatable...
If you're a big fan of soviet era propaganda films and you enjoy St. Peterburg based appartchiks attempting to mimic furtive, smarmy american tourists - this is the film for you! It kind of reminds me of Fidel's declaration that prostitution was a manifestation of recent capitalist excess...relegating the world's oldest profession to a sidebar from its former ubiquitous historical reality. C'mon, you jackass, maybe you should visit Cuba and view it through your own, certainly blighted, worldview as opposed to someone else propaganda film. The tradgedy of Cuba is not that it was spoiled by the US but that only a few actually get to experience it first hand instead of projecting all the fears and glorious aspirations upon it. I find you as revolting as the soviet spiv in the seersucker suit that is found creeping around the movie heroines hovel. - jim , posted 07/22/06

Must see
Directed by Mikheil Kalatozishvili, this movie bares no bones about being a propaganda film. And what a beautiful film it is. This movie is a technical masterpiece in terms of choreography and cinematography. It's good to see the other side of Cuban/American animosity. To quote from timskousen on imdb.com, "This one is purely worth watching for the choreography and cinematography, not for the silly ideology. " www.imdb.com/title/tt0058604/

Watch it and decide for yourself. - jazzlamb , posted 09/26/06
