nothing particularly moving this month, so here's a favourite from earlier in the year... I'd heard some Banco de Gaia a couple of years ago but was largely unimpressed. I got Farewell Ferengistan on a hunch and it turned out not just to be one of my top albums of the year, but one of my favourite examples of the ethnochill genre. Each song is unique and combines groovy psychadelia with beautiful chants from all reaches of the globe. The result is a shaman's journey into aural psychadelia, an album that demands you listen to it the whole way through (although the last track is quite out of place). - Spaceman , posted 10/02/06 |
