Campaign and Office Assistant
Western Canada Wilderness Committee (WCWC),
Victoria Office

Reports to the Campaign Director and Office Manager
Full Time, 40 hrs per week, must be available some weekends
and evenings
Supports campaign and office staff with all aspects of the
retail store, office maintenance, and campaign organizing
and research.
Key areas of responsibility
- Maintain database of contacts
- Research for key campaigns
- Oversee a retail store while completing other tasks
- Volunteer management
- Help organize events
- Understands and works within the WCWC values and mandate
- Prepare briefing documents and first drafts of letters and
press releases
Skills
- Organized, self-motivated worker and learner
- Leadership skills and volunteer management
- Microsoft Word, Excel, and Internet
- Excellent research and writing abilities
- Customer service
Qualifications
- Strong sense of customer service
- Good organizational skills
- Post secondary education in environmental science,
biology, geography, poli-sci, anthropology, sociology, and
other relevant fields an asset.
- Volunteer experience with a non-profit organization.
- Ability to communicate campaign messages effectively to
general audiences.
- Strong commitment to protecting wilderness and
biodiversity.
Organization Summary:
The WCWC is Canada's largest membership-based wilderness
protection organization. We work to protect endangered
ecosystems and species through public education and
mobilization. Some of our past successes include securing
protection for the Carmanah Valley, Sooke Hills, Stein
Valley, South Moresby, Upper Elaho Valley, and dozens of
other major wilderness areas across the province. Currently
the Victoria office is focused on protecting the old-growth
forests of Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland, banning
raw log exports, opposing the deregulation of forest lands
in BC, establishing a new national park in the grasslands
and pocket desert of the South Okanagan and Similkameen
