Available April 1st: one south facing upper floor bedroom atThe Olive Tree Communal House on 2nd and Commercial. The rent is $725/month including utilities and house fund. We are 2 women, 1 man, looking for one female roommate.
The house is a beautiful, renovated character house with all modern appliances, two porches, a yard, fireplace, laundry, and a piano. Sorry but the lease does not allow for pets.
A "community house" is different from a room-mate situation in that we share certain values and we hold a vision for the house and how we want to live. We are not asking anyone to change their values to match ours so they can live in the house. Rather, we are interested in drawing together people who are on the same page as we are. Beyond sharing the values outlined here, part of the fun of having community is the diversity of personalities and gifts that they bring.
CAST of CHARACTERS include:
K: 41 year old woman, singer/songwriter, massage therapist, Cuddle Party Facilitator
E: 45 year old male spiritual visionary, creator of maps for communication
A: 26 year old female seamstress and cook, currently attending chef school
D: 44 year old male guitar player, salesman
THE PEOPLE in this community house embody the following qualities and seek the same in prospective housemates:
-authentic, real, open-hearted, playful, and enjoy a certain freedom of self-expression and sense of humour
- interested and have experience with some kind of personal growth work
-skilled communicators who know their own needs and boundaries, are willing to take responsibility for their feelings, will take it upon themselves to clear tension that is arising with another, not into blaming others, gossiping, stuffing their feelings, etc.
-clean, considerate, responsible and self-starting when it comes to doing stuff for the house. ie: they see something that needs to be done and take it on.
-environmentally conscious and either use all non-toxic cleaning and personal hygeine products or are interested in doing that when they move into the house.
--willing and interested in chipping in $50/week towards communal food. This is given in one sum of $200 at the beginning of each month, with the rent.
--health conscious people who enjoy, or are happy to see others enjoy the occasional 420. (Not interested, however, in living with smokers or anyone with regular addictions).
HOW THIS HOME FEELS:
-Playful, Aware, and Supportive of each person's personal and creative growth. It will feel like a home for each person where they feel a sense of belonging and appreciation for who they are.
-The house looks and feels beautiful, clean, well-taken care of.
-We have bi-monthly house meetings.
-We each have active lives of our own and enjoy a measure of independence, privacy and quiet time at home.
-We host weekly potlucks with musical jams, monthly Cuddle Parties, and other workshops. We would like you to be someone who enjoys participating in these things.
-We enjoy spontaneous and planned comings together for meals, cleaning, house projects, potlucks, making music, dancing and the like.
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED:
Please send an email introducing yourself, what you are about and your vision of home. Also please include a pic, a myspace or a website if you have one. Write us at: kamilekapel@gmail.com
