We are losing our lovely roomie Phil, who will be sorely missed! Are you a relaxed, artsy creative type of person who will fill this space?
The house is just a few blocks off Fraser and E 33rd avenue, with easy access to the #8, 25, 41 and 43 buses, a bit of a stroll to the 22 on Knight St. We have the main/upstairs floor, with the middle-sized of the three bedrooms becoming available on Jan 1. It isn't huge, but there is a large walk-in closet and a clothes closet right beside the door, and there is a ton of storage available in the 'studio' (an enclosed patio) and the 'garage' (storage and laundry located below). One and a half bathrooms, a well-lit kitchen and living room, and a front yard ready for any flower gardening desires you may have! (there is a large vegetable garden in the back that we are invited to share as well).
Rent is $450 per month, which doesn't include utilities. Hydro and gas wind up being around $50-60 a month in winter, $15ish in the summer, and you can chip in for the new internet service once we see the bills.
We are: a female, mid 30s, self-employed doing work with hoops, knitting, waterpolo, and more -(which may explain the large piles of yarn and hoop-making materials in the living room) and a male, late 20s, working as a youth minister and singer/songwriter (which explains the exuberant singing to be heard from his room)..
We're pretty relaxed about life and living, willing to have a good time with a friend or two over to socialize on occassion, though huge parties are a rare thing.
You are... easy-going, with a reliable income or student loan or a decent nest-egg to tide you over if you are venturing into self-employment, a non-smoker without pets (he's allergic, sorry!), willing to work with us and the people in the basement about music and conversation volume through the day (if work is happening at home) and night (the folks downstairs go to bed around 11pm), and excited about sharing our space in our lovely East Van neighbourhood!
Please get in touch if you're interested in seeing the space :)
